New Testament Use of the Septuagint – Matthew 19:7

Here is New Testament passage that shows that the Septuagint was the version of the Scriptures used by the early church and the Holy Spirit. The Septuagint version I am using is the Lexham English Septuagint 2nd Edition, which is available in print or as part of Logos Bible Software. Occasionally I also use the Brenton translation of the LXX for insight into difficult passages.

7 They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE [biblion] OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY [apoluo]?” Matthew 19:7 (NASB95)

1 “But if someone takes a wife and he lives with her, and it happens that she does not find favor before him because he found in her a shameful thing, then he shall write her a document [biblion – book, letter, document, certificate] of divorce, and he shall give it into her hands, and he shall dismiss [exapostello] her from his house. Deuteronomy 24:1 (LES2)

1 “When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out from his house, Deuteronomy 24:1 (NASB95)

I suppose this might be a tie.
