It astounds me that many who profess to believe that the Bible is God’s Word have so little faith in its accuracy when it comes to creation, the heavens, and the earth on which we live. Those same people agree that it is our benchmark for truth in moral and spiritual matters, but cede authority to those who call themselves scientists when it comes to many practical things.
We have accepted the credo that “science” is proven objective truth that is capable of standing on its own quite independently from God or his Word.
This is the false hope upon which the scientific revolution began its ignoble quest to liberate itself from God and the Bible. But God has so designed creation that we cannot unravel its mysteries with out his help and the information contained in God’s Word.
We can emphatically say that anytime what is called science contradicts what is revealed in the Bible, it is in error.
Trying to gain knowledge outside of what God had revealed was exactly what got Adam and Eve in trouble. Modern science, especially theoretical astrophysics, has become a religion that postulates untestable theories that morph into unchallenged dogma which must be believed by the faithful, usually at the expense of God’s revealed truth in the Bible.
We were created to believe. We will believe in something, whether it is God’s truth or something else.
The most powerful “god” in the modern West today is probably what we call “science.” This was never more evident than during the manufactured Covid crisis when we were told to “Trust the Science,” even though now we know that the “science” was fraudulent. Science was never meant to be simply trusted. That is reserved for God alone. Trusting “science” can only be done by those who accept that it is a modern religion complete with its priests, temples, and dogma. True science has always depended on being tested and verified before acceptance.
The high priests of “science” today, however, ask us to bow down without giving any scrutiny.
Anyone who refuses to do so is castigated, called a “science denier,” and sometimes ostracized or punished in other ways, such as the loss of employment. This took place during Covid, with avid “science worshipers” giving their full support to the punishment of the “science denying” heretics, who we now know had the truth and the moral high ground. For me this compares to the episode in Daniel when Nebuchadnezzar constructed a golden image of himself and required everyone to worship it (Daniel 3). Anthony Fauci claimed that he personally represented “science” and therefore should be obeyed! What amazing arrogance!
What is even more disconcerting is how so-called “science” has pushed the Bible out of its position as the highest arbiter of truth.
This is nowhere more evident than in how people who say they believe the Bible interpret the Genesis account of creation. Instead of taking the Bible as an accurate account, as did the Reformers, many Christians today have fully accepted the pagan heliocentric theory along with the globe model (idol?) of the earth. This is a wholesale accommodation of the Scriptures to the claims of theoretical science and is the equivalent of bowing the knee to a science idol.
Both Luther and Calvin decried Copernicus’ teachings as heresy. These men actually believed that the Bible is completely trustworthy in all matters. It is our benchmark by which we measure every other pretender to the throne.
The fact that we have abandoned Sola Scriptura without a whimper testifies to the insidious creeping nature of deception. It is time for us to renounce Sciencia Prima and return to Sola Scriptura.
