Our world view affects every area of thought. It determines our origin, values, purpose, and destiny. Satan has worked long and hard to convince people that the Bible is not a reliable source of information regarding these fundamentals.
At the heart of Satan’s false narrative is the theory of evolution.
The theory of evolution holds that everything in the universe, including life itself, sprang from nothingness, completely by random chance, without the help of a Creator, and developed all by itself into the wonderful complexity we see today. In the evolutionary world view, our origin is by chance, meaning we have no intrinsic value, no purpose beyond reproduction, and no destiny after death.
When Darwin first proposed this theory, those who denied God’s existence pounced upon it because it appeared to give an acceptable scientific basis for atheism. Once evolutionary theory became generally accepted in the “scientific” community, like a giant octopus, it wrapped its tentacles around a wide variety of the “sciences,” including astronomy, geology, sociology, biology, politics, and theology. People began to view most everything through the lens of evolution.
The satanic purpose behind the lie of evolution is to make people doubt God’s existence and the truthfulness of the Bible, thereby enslaving us by robbing us of purpose, value, destiny, and hope.
Evolutionary thought led to the invention of the Big Bang theory by the Belgian Jesuit priest Georges Lemaitre. It has generated other non-biblical theories, such as the multiverse of modern string theory. Once a lie takes hold, it continues to give birth to even more deception.
The seed of evolutionary thinking seems to have been the development of the Copernican model of the “solar system,” which revolutionized how people understood our place in the grand scheme of things. The Copernican Principle, as it is now called, says that the earth is an insignificant speck in an incomprehensibly enormous universe, making human beings “sub-specks” in the cosmos. This egregious lie overturned the Bible’s teaching that the earth is the center of God’s creation, with humans being the crown.
Ideas have consequences, and the outcome of evolutionary thinking has been an abandonment of belief in God and faith in the Bible, exactly as Satan planned.
Many, if not most, astrophysicists now believe that the Big Bang universe self-generated and is still evolving. This absolutely contradicts the Bible, which says God completely created everything in six days. Nothing is still being created. It also directly contradicts the Bible’s order of creation by positing a gradual formation of stars from the chaos of an explosion. These stars eventually, over eons of time, spun off planets and other astronomical bodies. The creation account of Genesis Chapter One states that God created the seas and light on day one. Then he created the solid dome of the firmament on day two. On day three he separated the sea from the dry land and created plants. It was not until the fourth day that he created the sun, moon, and stars. On day five he made sea creatures and birds. On day six, he created land animals and Adam. Then God rested.
If the Bible account offends our sensibilities, we must ask ourselves why?
For thousands of years it was perfectly acceptable. It was only after the introduction of the Copernican model of the cosmos and evolutionary thinking that God’s account came to be regarded as just a story without any “scientific” merit.
Can it be that Satan has hoodwinked us as he did Adam and Eve so long ago?
But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NLT)
Can you not hear the serpent hissing the same words, “Has God really said?”
For many, belief in what is called science has supplanted honoring God’s Word.
If we reject Genesis Chapter One and its order of creation, we have to come up with some other way for everything to appear. The only other way proposed so far is the Big Bang theory.
It appears we have a choice to make: God’s Word or the Big Bang.
Many of us have managed to pretend we have not abandoned the Bible by calling the creation story mere poetry. Imagine that. When God’s Word contradicts the findings of what is called science, many people of God find it easier and more convenient to abandon the Bible than stand against traditions of men. How sad.
We were created to live by faith in what God tells us, without having to know everything for ourselves.
Satan convinced Adam and Eve to abandon their reliance upon God as their source of truth in a quest for forbidden knowledge. As a result of our first parents’ sin, human beings are now even more susceptible to Satan’s lies. We are drawn quite easily toward any supposed system of knowledge that goes beyond or against what God has revealed in the Bible.
Humans now seem to prefer most anything that contradicts God’s Word.
Our minds are useful tools when we are guided by God’s Spirit and protectively fenced in by God’s revealed truth, but when we diverge from God’s revealed truth, we are quite liable to end up being deceived, just as were Adam and Eve. The only escape from whatever fortress of lies in which we may be caged is to fully embrace the Bible’s teachings, even when it makes us appear foolish in the world’s eyes.
Many believers already have made the choice to reject the lies of the spontaneous evolution of life from non-life.
Isn’t it time to fully accept Genesis Chapter One as God’s true account of creation?
